NEBAG (North East and Borders Alpaca Group) are proud to organise the Alpaca Championship at The Northumberland County show which will take place on May 29th 2017 at Bywell, near Stocksfield in Northumberland. The championship is held at the premiere outdoor agricultural show for the North East attracting over 25,000 people last year. We are looking to build on the great success of last year hoping to attract approximately 120-125 entries.

We are very pleased to have secured the expertise of Liz Barlow as our judge who will be a welcome return to the North east. This year offers a wide variety of classes including the usual colour classes and separate classes for multi (huacaya and suri) as well as gelding and progeny.

As always, we will be holding our young handlers class – a great opportunity for children, (age 12 and under) to demonstrate their knowledge of alpacas and show off their alpaca handling and walking skills in the ring.  We feel it is really important to encourage handlers at this age, after all they could possibly be our breeder / owners / handlers of the future so what better place to start then at the friendly atmosphere of the Showground!

The alpaca section always attracts a lot of interest from the public and we plan to build on this opportunity to educate young and old in a fun environment, make new friends and dispel the many myths associated with alpacas!

Entries are now open and accessed through the Grassroots system.  Entries close on April 30th, (or when the entry limit has been reached).

If anyone would like any more information please contact Chief Stewards Rachel Vaclik or Paul Vaclik on rachel_louise_hill@yahoo.co.uk .

(In accordance with recent communications from the BAS, we would like to ask all entrants to remain aware of the Avian Influenza and any government guidelines that may be in force at the time of the show)

Come and join the fun – we look forward to seeing you there!
