Launch of a voluntary TB surveillance scheme

17 July 2014

Today Sure Farm launched their government approved voluntary camelid surveillance scheme using the Enferplex test. The event was aimed at the press, veterinary groups and the NFU.

Peter Roissetter took the opportunity to point out that although this was a very important step, two items remain in discussion:
Mandatory testing in a confirmed TB breakdown and compensation. We will send out information on these two points as soon as it is available.

We will not commit the membership to any compulsory path until you have had the opportunity to vote on it.

Whilst the BAS welcomes the introduction of the availability of the Enferplex test it must be emphasised that this is completely voluntary.
