South West Alpaca Group Fibre Day

The South West Alpaca Group would like to invite BAS members to their Fibre Day which will focus on:

Alpaca Fibre that Creates Value

The event will cover the basics of understanding fibre traits and the implications to end users for yarn production.

The sessions will include

  • Explanations of terminology, histograms and processing to finished yarn.
  • Fleece assessment and what this means in maximising financial returns.
  • An overview of UK Alpaca’s experience in larger scale grading and the costs involved in the manufacture of high quality British worsted alpaca yarns.
  • Classroom style with short session in Fleece Barn.


Date:  Sunday 26th January 2014

Time: 10:00 for 10:30 start.   

Cost: £20.00 per person.
