Eastern Alpaca Group News

14 June 2017

Membership of the Eastern Alpaca Group is due on 1st June 2017, the Committee has agreed to keep subs the same as last year, £20. We have lots of exciting things lined up for the rest of this year and next year.

Our next event is our AGM to be held on 1st July at The White Horse,  on the A140, the AGM will be followed by a three course meal and one of our famous quizzes and of course lots of alpaca chat.

The fleece show on 21st and 22nd July.  On the Sunday, 23rd July, we will holding an Open Day so that you can come and look at the winning fleeces, and there will be alpacas, craft stalls, refreshments and alpaca games for children.

August 19th Jay Holland, alpaca owner and judge, will be coming to Vale Farm, Suffolk to show us how to handle our alpacas efficiently and easily, even the grumpy ones!

Wednesday 4th October there is an opportunity for our members to visit the Wool Board in Stamford.  I am sure this will prove to be a very interesting visit, not to be missed.  Details of all these events will be sent out.

In 2018 there will be the usual post-Christmas social at the end of January, we also plan to hold ‘Alpacas as a Business’ workshop and a workshop on Ring Craft and How to Show. Another fleece show in July. Our big event for next year will be a Halter Show, which we hope to hold at Houghton Equestrian Centre in October.

We are open to any ideas that you may like to put forward and of course any help that you can give us.  We are always looking out for different venues for our events, so if you have a barn or other building that could be used for an event and would hold at least 30 people then please let us know.
