Donations of Fleeces Needed

8 August 2013

The courses and certification run by the BAS are very practical, and as such, participants practise and are tested on shorn fleeces. These fleeces have been provided in the past by the host farms and tutors, but the demand is such that we can no longer rely on the kindness of this group.

Fleeces can be use for one or two "exam/test" situations and are then used for practise and teaching. However, there comes a time when they are too "used" to be of any value for training.

We therefore need a regular supply of fleeces, both Huacaya and Suri.

It would be GREAT if those entering shows would donate their fleeces for this purpose; we would be happy to provide a copy of the score sheet and it would mean that you did not need to take your fleece away.

Alternatively, if ANY individual member wants to donate some fleeces, that would be wonderful. We need a variety of qualities, but mainly those at the "good and excellent" end of the spectrum.

If you are able to donate fleeces or are a show organiser who wants to promote the donation of fleeces at a fleece show, please contact Sue Welch, BAS Breed Secretary or 02476 304400
