20 December 2016
The registry office will be closed over Christmas from noon on 22nd December until 4th January. All registry applications logged over this period will be processed as soon as possible in the New Year.
It would help Grassroots maintain an accurate registry on behalf of the BAS, if all cria born in or before 2016 are registered by 31st December. Please also ensure any cria who may form part of your show team are registered in good time, ahead of the National booking in week. Registration is really important. Only the breeder can register an animal, so if you sell unregistered stock they can never be shown, their cria can only be registered in the Grading Up Register and their fleeces cannot carry the British Alpaca fibre marque.
Application can be made via the manage your own herd section of the on line registry, or you can download a paper form here and send it in by post.
All cria must be micro-chipped, this is the primary form of identification. They must also be allocated an ear tag made up of your herd letters, the letters BASUK and an individual number. Tags do not have to be worn in the ear.
Male and Female full registration is £18 inc VAT. Double fees apply for animals over 12 months of age. There is a transfer fee of £21.60 inc VAT on all fully registered animals.
Males destined for castration can be Listed, free of charge, or £6 inc Vat if you require a pink certificate. Listed males can be transferred free of charge and a certificate is automatically sent to the new owner.
Males whose destiny is not yet clear can be Notified, free of charge, or £6 inc VAT if you require a green certificate. Late Notified males cost £18 inc VAT. There is a transfer fee of £21.60 on the transfer of Notified males who can then be fully registered by their subsequent owners.
